THE PRIEST WHO LEFT HIS RELIGION
John Shields was destined to become priest from an early age. Many thought he would become the first North American Pope. So why did he leave the Priest Hood?
St Augustine lived 500 years after Christ and invented the concept of the original sin, which would lead to controlling the people for centuries to come. A God of peace and love was replaced with a revengeful and fearful God. The church needed people to believe that the first parent’s sin against God infected all humanity so along came Adam and Eve.
Pope John XX111 called upon the church to reform by allowing the truth about the bible to be brought forward. He formed a council which replaced a four hundred year old theology in favor of a vibrant and contemporary Christian faith and a God of love. The truth was finally to be spoken. The people accepted and loved this new change.
After the death of Pope John XX111 the head of the church was Pope Paul V1. This new Pope originally agreed with his predecessor and the new council to bring truth and reform to the church. Very soon after with pressure from the Bishops he allowed the church to return to its original beliefs written at a time when people believed the world was flat, that heaven was above us and hell was beneath us and again we have a fearful God that lead armies to fight wars.
John Shields life’s passion as a priest was shattered; he could not possibly preach something that he believed was false and so did the unbelievable for a priest, he walked away. John led an interesting life and I give him credit for taking such a bold stand on such a contentious issue by writing the truth. John’s life with his many accomplishments is a book in itself.
